Meet our Team

Michael Schafer

I started in this shop in 1999 and never looked back. I worked my way up from oil change lube tech to an ASE Certified Master Technician in 2007 where I was the lead tech for 8 more years.  I became assistant manager in 2010 and manager in 2012. I finally took over the business in 2014. I enjoy bringing my boys (I have three) down on the weekends and having them help fix our cars, in the hope that someday they will take over my position.

Jennifer Rowley

Customer Service Manager

Has more than 20 years of management experience. Jenn is a South Philly native and still resides here. Customer satisfaction and care are number one for her. Schafer’s was able to steal her in mid-2020 to help lift this business to a new level of customer service experience.

George Garber

Lead Tech

George wanted to fix and repair vehicles since high school. He started out more than 10 years ago at Schafer’s and has worked his way up from oil change lube technician to shop foreman and now lead tech. He loves trying to figure out things that no one can.

Armand DeBlasis

Started here in 2021 and has given us a new lift. He is a master at explaining things to customers in real terms. Armand cares about the cars and the customer’s pockets. He has over 38 years of experience in the automotive field and 26 years of that as a Service Advisor.

Matthew Mullock

Matt started in the automotive industry in 2019. He is a certified state inspector and has a deep passion for all makes and models of automobiles. He is hoping to grow to a high-level technician. He is a rock star on tires, alignments, oil changes, and our digital car care checklists. He has a great attitude and is always excited to see and work on new stuff.

Cindy Dahl

Customer Service

Cindy is the first person and the last you will see at Schafer’s. She is the customer service representative and has worked in customer service for 17 years. Cindy took time off to raise her children and is a game-changer for Schafer’s. She started her in late 2016 and loves to get to know the customers and who they are.

Mathew Martinez

Mathew Martinez has 12 years of professional experience in the automotive field as of 2021 and has been working on cars and engines his whole life. He is an A-level technician. He has joined our team to help Schafer’s grow in our ability to diagnose and make the hard repairs on of all the makes and models of vehicles that we see. He made the move from California to New Jersey to become a part of our team.

We’re Family Friendly!

Here are some shots of owner, Mike Schafer’s family!

Started in 1954 by Wilhelm Schafer, Schafer’s muffler and brake was started as a small repair garage in its original location on hunting park ave, rebuilding starters and alternators.

In the upcoming years Schafer’s would slowly but gradually expand in the field of automotive repair and by 1962 opened its first full service repair facility.

In 1975 Schafer's moved to their next location on Whitaker and Luzerne in the north Philadelphia area of Philadelphia.

Schafer’s would stay a small one location branch until 1990 when they purchased a second location in south Philadelphia in a shopping plaza at the corner of Delaware ave and tasker St. Together the two locations thrived in the fast moving and ever changing automotive field.

In 2002 Schafer’s made the decision to purchase an old truck repair facility on Columbus Blvd. and Snyder ave. with 8800 sq. feet the decision was made to close down the Whitaker and Luzerne location and combine the two into the new location.
